David Rith was the second youngest out of seven siblings with a mature, respectful nature, according to a GoFundMe created for his funeral costs. Rith had dreams of being a business owner, saying that "he wanted to be successful ... because he did not want to see mom and dad work hard anymore," said the GoFundMe created by his sister.

Rith began to show signs of a stroke on December 28, 2022. He was transported to Boston Children's Hospital where he was hospitalized for weeks. Multiple strokes and aneurysms cause irreversible damage to his brain, leading to his death on Sunday, Jan. 22.

"Our family is devastated and heartbroken at the unexpected loss of our beloved brother," the GoFundMe said.

Rith was a "genius when it comes to computer, a caring brother, a helpful son to his mom and dad, and a child full of life," according to a Facebook post made by Rith's brother.

The boy's unexpected death left the family financially unprepared for the costs associated with a funeral and burial, the GoFundMe said. Money raised will help with the costs associated with Rith's death, and any unused funds will go to Rith's parents.

The fundraiser has raised over $14,000 in three days from over 300 donors.
